I am so excited about 2012! I feel some magic in the air guys! You made 2011 so special and we have gained so much momentum and expanded our following by touring our faces off and by having you out there spreading the word! Now we are back to the road for 2012 and what an exciting year ahead! I can hardly sit still!
First off we want to say goodbye to Adam Holliday. We will miss him dearly and wish him the best! He is off to do all kinds of great things this year and we love him to death!
You will see a new face in the band this year. we are thrilled to introduce to you Mr. Jacob Thomas:
We had a bit of bad luck today we had to cancel our Aspen show because our bus broke down so we have our sights set on our Denver show with Cowboy Mouth. This year we get to go on tour with two of my favorite artists! Uncle Kracker and Eric Church! We also get to open for the ONE AND ONLY WILLIE NELSON on Feb. 12th! Read More
Howdy everyone! I hope you guys are eating turkey and stuffing your face with stuffing.
We just finished up a great run with The Zac Brown Band and also a couple of our own headlining dates along the way. We marched in the Halloween parade in Austin, got tattooed, hung out with yahoo, bought boots and vinyl, hung out at the CMA’s, hung out with Reese Witherspoon (she is a huge fan, and I am a huge fan of hers as well) saw the Alamo, the snow in Minnesota, survived a horrible stomach flu, hitting a deer (RIP), and lived through a trailor tire blow out. Now we are currently headed home for some much needed R&R but looking forward to our show with Uncle Kracker in Detroit on November 26th!
It’s been an amazing month so far to say the least! We have had awesome shows, met so many new people and were able to see some of our old friends as well! This month was especially great because I found out we are going to do 9 dates in February, 2012 with one of my FAVORITE country artists ERIC CHURCH! AND ON TOP OF THAT GUESS WHAT?????? IT GETS BETTER! We are opening for the legendary, WILLIE NELSON on February, 13th in my hometown Atlanta at the Tabernacle ! To my Atlanta fans you guys get your tickets now and lets show Willie how we do this! I feel like Charlie in the Chocolate factory! PLUS I have to share this with you guys because my BIG dream (other than meeting Bruce Springsteen), is coming true. I am going to spend my birthday in December in London, England! It has been a dream of mine since I can remember to go and play music in London. Well, finally the time has come and I will be playing a couple of solo shows while I am over in the U.K. Then when I come home we get to bring in the new year with my Southern Ground family at Phillips Arena! Somebody pinch me. I am so blessed and thankful. It’s all because of you guys supporting the music, showing up at the shows, loving the music. You are making my dreams come true and I cannot thank you enough for all your wonderful support. I LOVE YOU! I hope you all enjoy your time with your families. I am rarely home and I cherish my time with my loved ones so much more than I used to when I took for granted I could see them whenever I wanted. I hope you know how blessed you are to be together. There are folks out there who have no home or family to be with and my heart goes out to you. Sometimes our friends are our families and I consider you all apart of mine. I will be keeping up with my Twitter and Facebook to keep you guys in the loop on what’s up daily, so make sure you “follow” me! Read More
Yesterday we popped in to Nashville for the day to record “Alabama” with Matt Mangano at Quad studio’s. This place has juju guys! I recorded in the room that Neil Young cut Harvest Moon. Also Dobie Gray cut Drift Away there, Elvis recorded there amongst so many other legends.
Needless to say that 70′s vintage vibe was there! While we were there my good friend Brian Wright texted me and he happened to be in town from L.A. He came to the studio and hung out with us. He is one of the greatest songwriters around-for real!
Check out the song “Neighborhood” on his record Blue Bird on iTunes! I always make him play it every time I see him play. better yet buy the whole Record it’s a must have! “Glory Hallelujah” is also One of my favorite songs as well!
After we were done with our session, we all went to one of my favorite sushi spots called Sushi Yobi. We had some delicious din din! We heard some Great blues music dancing on the air, so we followed that sound to the Red Rooster.
They were having a Blues jam they hold EVERY Monday night. If you are in Nashville I suggest you to stop by sometime! It turned out that Kenny Kramer from Dr. Hook was in the house jamming amongst other well seasoned awesome musicians!
OF COURSE me and the boys were itching to play so we asked Kenny Kramer to sit in with us.we got up and jammed some blues baby! he was smoking that guitar! I grew up listening to Dr Hook! When we were Little My brother Michael and I would dress up and act out “The Millionaire” we thought we were being sneaky because we got away with saying “horses ass”. Anyways wanted to share that with you guys!

Not bad for our first time playing it AND I was sick! Also the Zamily and Fam O Leigh surprised me with a cake to help celebrate my CD release! We Love you guys so Much!
We had a couple days in Ohio. I needed some fresh air and some good food so we set out on a walk. First we hit up The World Food Market where I had some delicious soup and a vegetarian sloppy Joe along with some tasty baked snacks. Then I bought a couple of sweet T’s at Wholly Craft a neat little boutique shop! Next we shot over to a second hand store called Boomerang Room and scored some Great original vintage Vinyl like The Band, Beatles, Stones, Tom Petty, I even landed an Original Doors record! On the way out the door we spotted some bicycles for sale so we said what the hell. So Adam, Tube Top and I wheeled and dealed and rolled out of there with 3 bikes!
The next night we played at Jerome Schottenstein Center at Ohio University For WCOL who has been spinning our single and we want to thank John Biy Crenshaw for including us! Montgomery Gentry headlined and it was Eddie Montgomery’s birthday!
I love so many of their Songs and it was an honor to share the stage! Steve Holy was also on the bill – I did not get to catch him but have seen his video on GAC so thumbs up brother!

I remember where I was on September 11th 2001. I was in my truck headed to put my 8 hours in at Mail Boxes Etc…
I heard the news on Atlanta’s rock radio station 99x. I thought they were joking at first. You know, the morning show babbling in the background as you sip your coffee. But nobody was laughing. I began to realize they were serious. I went in to work and talked with my boss and tried to stick around and stay positive and pretend it was not happening but I began to panic. I thought of my family and friends and they said Atlanta might be a target because of the Center of Disease Control which was right around the corner from where I was working. I told My boss I was leaving and he could fire me if he wanted to (he didn’t by the way, I ended up leaving town for a while.) I drove to my friend Stephanie’s house and I found her sitting on her bed watching TV crying. I began to cry too because right in those first moments I arrived the second plane hit. We were both in shock. It was earth shattering to me. Such an angering mysterious moment. We were all curious and stayed glued to our TV’s and then We saw the second plane hit. It was as if someone punched me In the chest. We decided we would go and try to donate some blood. They had a waiting list and I found that beautiful so many people came together in tragedy.
I gathered my things and drove to the country where my father lives. I ended up quitting my job for a couple of months and moving to Florida to get away from the city and re-group my whole life and be with my family. 9/11 put my life and dreams into perspective. I got a lot more serious and determined after that day. My heart goes out to all the families that lost a loved one. I am fortunate enough to not have lost someone in the attacks. I honor all the troops who fight for our freedom and the ones who have died fighting for us all. Today I want to say thank you to them and to all the Americans who come together when this country is in need of volunteers, food and shelter for victims from hurricanes, to flooding to earthquakes. The tragedies bring us all closer together and we remember our compassion for one another.
The Boys and I finally made it to Detroit after a very loooooong drive from Nashville yesterday! Tonight we take the stage at The Hard Rock for the Kenny Chesney pre-party! 9pm!
Sit down, grab a sandwich, because I have a lot to catch you up on!
Well, all of our shows with The Zac Brown Band have been an absolute blast! Kid Rock showed up to watch us open for ZBB in Omaha at The Red Sky Music festival It was so scorching hot, sweat was in our eyes. I was able to hang with Kid for the rest of the evening. He really is a super guy, crazy, but he has a huge heart and he is so funny!
